On success.

Tendulkar has broken yet another record….......yaaawn…… He became the only person in the history of mankind to score….zzzzzzzzzz.....

Isn’t the man just sickeningly, boringly, tiringly, monotonously successful?

500 runs in a Test innings, 500000 runs in international cricket, 5 million runs in first class cricket at the age of 50- nothing is beyond him. Tell me that he has just whacked a six off the last ball of the match while seated blind-folded and mouth-gagged on a wheel-chair with one arm in a cast and I will display no astonishment.

The sight of him pummeling the hapless bowlers reminds me of Rajnikanth taking on an army of 1500 thugs at the same time and whacking the hell out of them. Of course, he does it in the movies, while Sachin does it in real life, but the net effect on me is the same.

I get bored.

Probably the best tribute to the classy master, Sachin Tendulkar.

Thanks very much.

I Agree.

A minor quibble is that this post (or any post on Sachin breaking a record) should be labelled under 'Boring Stuff' than 'Cricket'.

Er, Srik : I wasn't trying to pay him a tribute. Whatever may be his achievements, I am genuinely bored of this guy and wish that he would make way for other & fresheridols/icons. For 21 years, I haven't been able to open a newspaper or watch a TV program or look at a hoarding, without having to read/watch some eulogy/lavish praise being showered on this guy. I am tired of reading about his humility/his level-headedness/his patriotism/his undying passion to excel, blah blah. it is an assault on the senses. The shelf life of a hero should be limited to 5 years.

MS : Point noted.

You know what would make Tendulkar story interesting going forward? A scandal like Tiger Woods...

I just don't understand when Tendulkar makes all these runs, because if I ever sit down to watch cricket he gets out for a duck or at most some single digit number of runs. So Raj, if you like, I will start watching cricket regularly, for that will surely hasten the end of his career.

Anon: I may be bored with Sachin, but I don't wish him ignominy.

Anu, any help will be welcome. While you are on it, do you have similar methods to ensure retirement of Amitabh Bachchan, Lata Mangeshkar....

in a country starved of heroes .. sachin being put on a pedestal makes for good economic prudence .. they never do run out of opportunities to praise him, 20 years of career, half century, full century etc etc

That also brings up the topic of retirement for the other bunch of "mazbooth jod" ala fewiquik....our rulers....we in bengaluru are tired of seeing the face of our manina maga and perhaps you guys of Kalaignar and the ageless/matchless/peerless Union cabinet ministers - Pranabda, Pawarji for instance...what about them?
