Instead of trying to limit the students & restrict the global communications of these adolescents; education should be teaching them how to effectively communicate in an rapidly evolving world. As media expert Marshall McLuhan once said, "The Medium is the Massage" and teachers today are ill equipped to do their job effectively. Work with technology not against it.Smileynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15891023.post-37305750106121722702009-06-04T21:07:45.857+05:302009-06-04T21:07:45.857+05:30quartyc : "may be Man's deed isn't an...quartyc : "may be Man's deed isn't an average by itself, but a netting of ups and downs:. But like any other gadget, it has its disadvantages, like, constant texting leads to back pain, blisters in fingertips and thumb, and the extra features like walkman and radio affects eardrums. Ipods and social networks (eg:Facebook) adds fuel to the fire.Priya Sivanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09132242145748159014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15891023.post-33396224955824531782009-06-02T15:36:06.233+05:302009-06-02T15:36:06.233+05:30An escalation of the kind of restrictions we'd lik...An escalation of the kind of restrictions we'd like to impose on, to balance the ups and highs, with a horrible low.
The pre mobile days eg. is Ghandhiji practicing Maun Vrat, once a week.
I dont know if we have to impose such terrible lows artificially, of course, may be Man's deed isn't an average by itself, but a netting of ups and downs. A better way of justifying such ideas is may be- as Morgan freeman says in Shawshank Redemption- "he did it just to feel normal". Ought to keep redefining what normal life is :)quartychttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03500076068855290674noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15891023.post-64797957058783026072009-06-01T21:07:16.351+05:302009-06-01T21:07:16.351+05:30Priya Sivan, don't know how that comment got delet...Priya Sivan, don't know how that comment got deleted. When you travel by air ( or for that matter even by rail ), almost all open up their laptop or yap on their mobile till the hostess asks them to shut up. Also, the moment the plane lands, you find folks flipping their mobiles to hook up for transport. How on earth did they manage during pre mobile days ? End of the day the "toy" factor is more than the actual "utility" factor...me thinks.Balajisbloghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04959473707216957738noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15891023.post-83463635299314341112009-05-31T07:31:37.426+05:302009-05-31T07:31:37.426+05:30This comment has been removed by the author.Priya Sivanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09132242145748159014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15891023.post-17747183567798704572009-05-30T17:22:49.948+05:302009-05-30T17:22:49.948+05:30Vee Cee; you have a point.Vee Cee; you have a point.Rajhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09367344161081393779noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15891023.post-52899806447905207832009-05-30T08:44:22.397+05:302009-05-30T08:44:22.397+05:30Note to self: Must try this experiment at home wit...Note to self: Must try this experiment at home with teenaged daughters……..Don't.
